Quantum supremacy and quantum phase transitions

Demonstrating the ability of existing quantum platforms to perform certain computational tasks intractable classical computers represents a cornerstone in computing. Despite growing number such proposed "quantum supreme" tasks, it remains an important challenge identify their direct applications. In this work, we describe how approach Ref. [arXiv:2002.11946] for demonstrating supremacy generic driven analog many-body systems, as those found cold atom and ion setups, can be extended explore dynamical phase transitions. We show key signatures, distance between output distribution expected Porter Thomas at regime, used effective order parameters. apply periodically disordered 1D Ising model that accurately capture transition thermalized localized phases. This also captures towards Floquet prethermalized regime high-frequency driving. Revisiting phases matter under light recent discussions about draws link complexity theory systems.
